Dark Mode Tips For Countdown Timers
How to deal with dark mode in email clients when using countdown timers.
Dark mode has been frustrating email marketers for a while, especially Gmail who agressively apply their own algorithm. To make sure that your countdown timers work both in day and dark mode, you can use the following tips:
- Use a solid background if possible. Transparent backgrounds can become pixelated if the background around it does not match that of the timer. For more information on this, you can read https://help.sendtric.com/en/article/why-is-my-transparent-background-countdown-timer-blurry.
- Use a text outline. Text outline help fix the issue with transparent backgrounds and also improve the visibility of the digits and labels regardless of the background color that may have been inverted.
- Use contrasting colors between the background and the timer labels and digits, especially colors that are visible in both dark and white backgrounds.
- Increase timer and/or labels size - the bigger the timer, the sharper it is due to the way the GIF file system works.
- Use one of our 'Pro' styles which allow for pixel-perfect designs.
